AT&T Introduces Wireless Account Lock to Combat SIM Swapping Fraud
AT&T Inc. has launched a new security feature, Wireless Account Lock, designed to shield customers from SIM swapping attacks. The tool, available free to postpaid users, adds an extra verification LAYER to prevent unauthorized account changes—including number transfers and device purchases.
SIM swapping remains a critical vulnerability in digital security, often enabling access to financial and email accounts via intercepted two-factor authentication codes. AT&T's proactive measure reflects growing telecom accountability in cybersecurity as crypto-related fraud escalates.
